The Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer is out and it is spectacular! We still have to wait another seven months but there are many reasons to smile and rest assured that this will be a great Spider-man movie. I am a big fan of The Amazing Spider-man films. There was potential there and promise. The first film starring Andrew Garfield as the web crawler was excellent. They went with a good villain that was never used to fruition in Sam Raimi’s trilogy. The chemistry between Garfield and Emma Stone was palpable. If you are going to cast a new uncle Ben then…

A new Superman is born! Superman is finally back on the small screen. Making his first appearance in the season two Supergirl opening episode, Tyler Hoechlin has quickly established himself as a worthy portrayer of the Man of Steel. It’s great to see Supergirl now at the CW along with Arrow and The Flash. It’s a smart move because now the creators and writers can do a lot more with these characters. Episode one of the new season already looks much better style wise . The fact that they have let some of the limelight be taken off Supergirl so…

The new Marvel/DC TV season will soon be upon us. Expectations from fans are high for the future of their favorite comic book shows. Luke Cage will be hitting Netflix at the end of September and is eagerly anticipated. The trailer has helped to wet the appetite and here’s hoping that Jessica Jones will do a cameo. It’s a shame she won’t get a second series for a while. Iron Fist will follow Luke Cage and these are both characters that fans are excited to see brought to life in a live action show. With the huge success of Daredevil…

After watching the theatrical cut of Batman V Superman I totally slated this film. In fact, I wrote an article for ScreenGeek about why the film failed critically. I am more than pleased to say that having just watched the ultimate edition with the extra 30 minutes or so of footage, it looks like the DC Cinematic Universe is going to be something great. The version of BVS in the cinemas was disjointed, confusing and a real mess. The whole desert sequence at the beginning didn’t make much sense to a lot of people. The new cut helps flesh this…

There is a very strong possibility that Bucky Barnes will appear in the Black Panther movie. Sebastian Stan who plays the brain washed killer turned redeemed hero has a nine film contract with Marvel. We are going to be seeing plenty more of Captain America’s best friend in future films. At the end of Civil War he was put on ice in Wakanda. There’s no doubt that T’Challa will face a dangerous foe in the future like Man-Ape, White Wolf or Erik Killmonger. When he goes to his freezer it won’t be ice cream he’ll be taking out. He is…

It looks like Agent Carter’s adventures in the SSR will not see a third season as the show has been axed. Carter’s first appearance was in Captain America: The First Avenger. She also appeared in The Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron and Ant-Man. Due to the popularity of the one shot short film on the Iron Man 3 Blu ray called ‘Agent Carter’, the folk at Marvel decided to give Peggy her own Show. The first season saw her in New York trying to survive the ‘man’s world’ of the SSR NY branch. Her adventures led her to have dealings…

Dolph Lundgren has shown some interest for the part of Cable in the Deadpool sequel. Speaking to Nerdist, Lundgren was asked about returning to the Marvel universe in some capacity. Here’s what he had to say: “That’s a good question. I haven’t watched a lot of these superhero movies; for some reason, I don’t know, I’m just busy making films. I did hear in… Deadpool, isn’t there a character named Cable that’s coming? Like, he’s a big guy? I guess I could kick some butt doing that, I suppose. We’ll see. When I saw the picture, he looks a little…

As talked about in a previous article, X-Men: Apocalypse has received mediocre reviews from the first wave of critics. This sadly feels like Batman v Superman all over again. That feeling in the gut is that all these critics can’t possibly be wrong. A few regular cinema goers have seen the film at advance screenings and it’s been mostly a negative reaction. You would have to feel for Bryan Singer if this film tanks and it’s his last X-Men film. His first film back in 2000 was, along with Spider-Man, ground breaking. X2 was nothing short of brilliance. Unfortunately…

Being a huge DC fan – it is with a heavy heart that I have to say MARVEL is king of the silver screen! We have had eight years of exciting, entertaining and funny comic book films from Marvel. Even though the films that came before were not made by Marvel Studios, the mediocre to half decent Marvel films were better than what WB/DC were putting out. Thomas Jane’s Punisher is a worthy mention along with Blade. The Dark Knight trilogy is of course a major exception and thank god for it. Superman Returns wasn’t completely terrible but it was…

There’s no denying that Batman v Superman has had a strong box office opening. However, there are good reasons why 9 out of 10 critics have annihilated this film. BvS was supposed to be the film that put DC on the map at the cinema. It has done just that but not in a good way. I don’t think Zack Snyder knew what he wanted this film to be. The story is a mess and the introduction of the Justice League characters was lazy and laughable. Instead of making a really interesting film about why Batman and Superman fight, this…
