In a move that pretty much every man and his dog saw coming, Marvel chose this week to finally pull the trigger on Netflix’s failed Iron Fist show. What fans and commentators certainly weren’t prepared for was a similar announcement several days later confirming that fellow Defender Luke Cage would also be losing his series. It was a decision that prompted no small amount of online protest, with some fans even going as far as to claim that the move was tantamount to racism. But, you know what? Netflix and Marvel would have been stupid to try and keep Luke…

Today’s ‘WTF did I just read?’ article concerns Netflix, who have this week been accused of deceiving viewers by mocking up artwork that falsely suggests some movies contain more ethnic representation than they actually do.  In at least two identified cases, films available on the streaming platform have different photos available on the main menu, one seeming to focus on white cast members, and the other depicting black actors. The accusation leveled at the company is that their algorithm will select which picture is shown to the viewer using previous viewing choices, misrepresenting the material on offer. Netflix ‘deceiving’ black…

Paramount Pictures had already gone and announced that there would be a follow-up movie of some kind, and this week they’ve revealed some detail about what they have in store for audiences. Whilst the events depicted in A Quiet…

While recent developments over in the DC Films Universe seemed to suggest that Warner Brothers had finally got their sh*t together and started moving things in a positive direction, there’s still a fairly significant elephant remaining in the room. Well, two of them in fact. Because if you cast your eye over the next two years worth of DCEU releases, there’s a distinct lack of Batman or Superman – played by Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. Unofficial reports, which WB have remained extremely cagey about, have persistently hinted that both Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill want out of their roles.…

With the exception of surreptitious set photos, or a social media stumble here and there, the toy releases associated with franchise blockbusters are usually one of the most dependable sources of spoilers for forthcoming film releases. Sure, they’ve often been as misleading as many times as they’ve been accurate, but some artwork for the toys tied into next year’s Avengers 4 movie has already gone and sent MCU fans into a frenzy. Comic book website KPOW! have circulated photos this week via their Instagram account of what appears to be the empty box of an upcoming Thor and Rocket Raccoon…

As Marvel continue to try and cope with the fallout from their knee-jerk dismissal of James Gunn, the controversy surrounding one of the company’s very few mis-steps shows no sign of dying down. A whole host of MCU stars and directors have continued to speak out very publicly against the decision, none more vociferously than Dave Bautista, who this week continued to throw more fuel on the fires raging around the debate.  There have been none more supportive of the disgraced Guardians of the Galaxy director than former WWE superstar Bautista, who has simply refused to back down in his…

Speculation and rumor about the project continue to saturate Marvel fan forums and discussion boards, and the latest hot topic is just how much MCU time will have elapsed between the end of Avengers: Infinity War, and the start of the new movie.  Commentator Daniel R took to Twitter this week stating that he had been informed by a source that the opening scenes…

Whilst every corner of the DCEU is seemingly saturated with movie announcements that were cancelled just as quickly as they had been unveiled, the MCU has far less to offer in terms of dreams about what could have been. There are comparatively few projects or concepts that were officially laid out by Marvel, and didn’t end up eventually coming to fruition in some way, shape or form. If one thing typifies the company, it’s that they don’t like to waste their ideas… If you choose to look slightly further afield than the decade-old Marvel Cinematic Universe itself, the landscape becomes…
