Reboots are a dime a dozen in Hollywood, especially in the horror genre. Both Halloween and Child’s Play serve as recent examples of how reboots can be done differently. Halloween had a very tried and true approach, staying dedicated to the original source material and its respective characters. Child’s Play, on the other hand, reinvented its series’ formula by modernizing Chucky in our smart technology era. It appears that the 1998 horror film Urban Legend will be joining the remake trend. ScreenGems (distributors of Brightburn and The Intruders) are planning to reboot Urban Legend to the modern era, choosing Colin Minihan to direct and write the project. Deadline broke the news and released…

While 2016’s Suicide Squad was a major misfire aside from its financial prosperity, the concept of a follow-up from Guardians of the Galaxy helmer James Gunn has a lot of promise. Gunn is one of the most inventive minds working in mainstream cinema, taking his quirky indie roots established in Slither/Super and mixing them with comic book storylines. No writer/director is more adept to save The Suicide Squad more than him, as he’s also shown an adept ability at managing a team dynamic while letting each core player shine. With The Suicide Squad currently filming, a behind the scenes set video revealed a new look for one of its…

Sony has made no secret about their plans to establish their own cinematic universe, seeing the success that their Marvel counterpart Disney has had doing the same over the last decade. While setting up a universe is a no-brainer in theory, it takes a lot of moving pieces fitting into places for a shared universe to happen. Sony is hoping that Morbius and Venom 2 are able to help establish that universe, but it seems they already have another building block planned. According to the Exhibitor Relations Twitter account, an Untitled Sony/Marvel project is set for release on October 21, 2021. Many are speculating…

Since joining the MCU in 2012’s The Avengers, Mark Ruffalo’s version of the Hulk has been one of the universes unsung heroes. Despite never getting his own feature film, the actor has given a faithful version of the Hulk that explores the character’s personal struggles while interjecting some of Ruffalo’s charming humor. With actors like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans recently departing the MCU, many have wondered what Ruffalo’s future in the MCU would be. According to Ruffalo himself, his future is very much up in the air. Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Ruffalo was asked about his future in…

Few films raised as much controversy last year as The Hunt, which is a low-budget satire about the conflict between the social elites and the poor. After Fox News and other outlets complained about the film’s premise, The Hunt would go on to be criticized by the president himself, leading to the project being delayed indefinitely. After months of waiting, it seems like The Hunt is finally going to see the light of day. Universal announced today that genre film will get a March 13th theatrical release, promoting it with a completely new ad campaign. Along with the announcement, The Hollywood Reporter spoke to writer Dameon…

Few films have had as polarizing of reactions as Alita: Battle Angel. The 2019 release was met with mixed reviews from critics (I was not a fan of it), but quickly found a passionate audience that has championed the film since its release. Even with it being a box office disappointment, fans are still passionately voicing their desire for a sequel to be released, one that would continue the Manga adaptation’s cliffhanger ending. During last night’s Oscar ceremony, these fans were able to make their voice heard in an unexpected way. To gain traction for the sequel cause, an overhead plane…

While many film fans look forward to the Oscars to see what films will win, very few fans actually enjoying watching the ceremony itself. Between the overlong length and back-and-forth between having a host and no host, the ceremony has never been nearly as meaningful as the awards themselves. One of the moments that stands out the most, however, is the In Memoriam section, where everyone takes a moment to remember the stars who have passed away over the past year. This year’s Oscars couldn’t even get that part right. Following last nights ceremony, many took to social media to…

Along with Venom 2 and Morbius, the idea of a Kraven the Hunter film is intriguing in many ways. The foe has yet to be featured in any of the big screen Spider-Man adaptations, and the creation of a solo project would work nicely to tie into the Sinister Six villain team-up project that has been rumored. After rumblings of the film’s conception in 2018, it looks like the project might finally materialize onscreen. According to the The Illuminerdi, a casting call for the Kraven the Hunter film has begun, with the film potentially pitting him in a bounty-hunting crusade to kill Spider-Man himself. The report states: The Illuminerdi has…

Every week has its fair share of crazy, but true news stories, with Disney making its way into the mix this week. After showing the film The Lion King at a school fundraiser (the film is currently readily available on Disney+), Emerson Elementary School was then sent a $250 dollar bill for playing the film without getting the megacorporations’ permission. To see one of the world’s largest companies pettily charge a school that is acting towards a noble cause is equally hilarious and shocking, which is what made the story blow up over the past week. After much anticipation, Disney CEO Bob Iger…
