When the lineup to Marvel’s Phase Two was announced back in 2012, nobody could have possibly predicted that Guardians of the Galaxy would have the success it did. Not only did it gross $778 Million but a sequel is currently less than 4 moths away. To keep us fans satisfied for these next few months, we’ve been treated to some photos from the film. Read on to check them out.
The photos were initially revealed by USA Today in a recent article they wrote about the film, but they have since been released in a higher quality via the film’s director, James Gunn to his official Facebook page. Speaking of the film to the site, Gunn revealed:
“The first movie was successful because we took chances and gave people the unexpected. This movie can only really be what it is, Guardians can only be what they are, if they’re taking a risk. It means giving them a much different movie.”
You can check out the images below:
Whilst some of these images have previously been revealed in the various trailers released for the film, such as the scene with Yondu, Rocket and Baby Groot walking amongst the falling ravagers and Star-Lord looking out from some sort of cave it also gives us a look at the newest addition to the franchise, Mantis, set to be played by Pom Klementieff. What’s interesting is that she looks to be alongside Drax on the same planet we saw the rest of the team on in the trailer, could this be Ego in his planet state we are seeing. I need regards to the character of Ego, Kurtis Russell told the publication:
“Ego is the most powerful character I’m ever going to play. I mean, he created himself! He’s the real deal.”
We also get a behind the scenes look at Gunn conversing with Chris Pratt, with the character wearing some form of armour on his chest. It’s interesting to note that Zoe Saldana’s Gamora seems conspicuously absent from these pictures. Hopefully that doesn’t reflect her role in the film.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to blast into theatres May 5th.
