Upon Phase Four of the MCU, the movies will be coupled with shows on Disney Plus. Marvel had shows before that we thought were part of the MCU. But recently, it was deemed that Marvel Television lived in a realm of their own. They were probably cast out in lieu of these Disney Plus shows. In any case, the streaming service will start their slate with Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, Hawkeye, and What If. Marvel is hard at work on those. But they have also begun on their next slew of shows. Those are the announced She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel. The former two already have showrunners announced. While Ms. Marvel has been rumored to include a reboot of the Inhumans. The showrunner for Moon Knight awarded fans with a few words on his future project.
Jeremy Slater has been announced as the showrunner for Disney Plus and Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight. He’s proven that he can handle comic book shows with Netflix and Dark Horse’s Umbrella Academy. The comic was created by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way. Slater also wrote the Netflix original, Death Note, which was adapted from a manga. But also keep in mind, he wrote the screenplay for the disappointing Fantastic Four remake.
Slater posted a tweet about his love of Marvel, and his upcoming work on Moon Knight. He said,
“I was seven when I bought my first Marvel comic, and my life was changed on the spot. It’s no exaggeration to say that joining the MCU is the single greatest honor of my career. I’m thrilled and terrified and deliriously happy. And while I won’t be able tell you anything in regards to story or casting, I *can* tell that you we’ve assembled a room full of brilliant writers who truly love this character, and we’re all hard at work crafting something special for you. So stick around and stay tuned. Moon Knight is on the way, and it’s going to be one hell of a ride”
Moon Knight is an ex-marine turned mercenary for the CIA. During a mission in Egypt, he became posessed by the god, Khonshu. His name is Marc Spector. But along with Khonshu and Spector, he has several other different identities.
We’ll see what Marvel adapts for their project. Slater promises that it will be a “hell of a ride.” So hopefully they’ll do it justice. However, they failed to show the multiple personalities of Hank Pym. They gave his Yellow Jacket personality to Corey Stoll’s Darren Cross. And while we saw a little bit of Hulk’s Dissociative Identity Disorder, we haven’t seen the full extent that Peter David, and then Al Ewing later painted.
Moon Knight has not been given an official release date yet. But we have to get through the first phase of Disney Plus shows first. So expect it sometime after 2022. And for further news on Moon Knight and the rest of MCU, stick with ScreenGeek.
