When Ghost Rider was first announced to be part of the television show, Agents of SHIELD, there was some understandable skepticism. Hell, even his actor, Gabriel Luna, was wise to stay off the internet in the days leading up to the show due to the skepticism However, his portrayal of the character has since received praise. At this point, fans have wondered if Luna’s portrayal of the Spirit of Vengeance may get his own standalone T.V. show.
Luna spoke with IGN about this possibility, stating:
“There’s been rumblings about that. It depends on how much you [the fans] love it. If you love it, we’ll make it.”
In the same interview, Luna stated his ideal setting for a standalone series would be in the west and he’d love to have a crossover with another familiar face in the Marvel Universe, the Hulk, hoping for a big fight between the two.
Luna has put a lot of time and effort into his portrayal of this version of the Rider, Robbie Reyes. He looked at many iterations of comic books and even gave the Nicolas Cage films a watch. Knowing this, I personally wonder if Cage’s infamous “SCRAPING AT THE DOOR” scene from Spirit of Vengeance will have any influence on Luna for at least one bit. Who knows?
