‘The Flash’ Actor Robbie Amell Is Worried About Batman v Superman

The Flash actor Robbie Amell expressed cautious optimism about Batman v Superman, praising Ben Affleck’s casting while acknowledging the challenges.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, actor Robbie Amell, known for his role as Firestorm on The Flash, shared his thoughts — and some concerns — about the highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While Amell expressed excitement over the film and praised Ben Affleck’s casting, he also acknowledged the inherent challenges of balancing two iconic superheroes in a single movie.

“I’m very interested in Ben Affleck as Batman. I actually think he’s a great choice,” Amell said. “I’m a little worried about a Batman versus Superman movie just because it’s… I just think it’s really tough to pull off. I’m very excited about seeing it, but I think it’s really tough to balance those two characters in the same movie.”

Despite his reservations, Amell was quick to add that he’s a fan of Affleck and believes the actor is well-suited for the role of Bruce Wayne. “As long as he doesn’t have a Boston accent, I think he’s going to be awesome,” he joked.

Amell’s comments reflect a sentiment shared by some fans and critics ahead of the film’s release. Bringing together two legendary figures from comic book history — each with massive fan bases, distinct tones, and separate mythologies — poses a major creative challenge. Striking the right balance between Superman’s idealism and Batman’s darker, more grounded persona is no small feat, especially in a single film that also serves as a launching point for the larger DC Extended Universe.

Still, Amell’s remarks were far from negative. His interest in the project and admiration for Affleck suggest cautious optimism rather than outright doubt. With director Zack Snyder at the helm and a high-stakes story that introduces characters like Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor, Batman v Superman was positioned to be a turning point for DC’s cinematic efforts.

Whether the film successfully balances its two leading heroes remains up to audiences and critics to decide — but Amell’s thoughtful comments add to the broader conversation surrounding one of the most ambitious superhero crossovers in recent memory.
