Lionsgate is developing a tent-pole film adaptation of Gearbox Software’s Borderlands video game franchise – according to Variety. It will be produced by a familiar name to Marvel fans – Avi Arad. His son, Ari will also produce.
So far, the Borderlands game franchise consists of Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Tales from the Borderlands. So, obviously Lionsgate sees movie franchise potential here. The game has also sold more than 26 million worldwide.
There aren’t many other details on the project yet, but hopefully it will be better than most video game adaptations end up.
