Spider-Man’s Age In The Upcoming Reboot Has Been Revealed

The upcoming Spider-Man reboot will be an entirely different take on the character – and the first to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As Director Jon Watts puts it, he’ll be a bit younger than we’re used to seeing him on screen:

“We’re really going to see Peter Parker in high school and get deeper into that side of it. He’s just 15 now,” Watts told Empire magazine.

Holland is 19 and the youngest actor to currently portray the web-slinger.

“I love the idea of making a coming-of-age high school movie,” Watts said.

He also went on to say that Holland “captures the spirit of the character” and had high praise for the actor’s athleticism with his ability to do backflips – amoung other things:

“Tom was pretty perfect. He’s very athletic. He can actually do a backflip! If he didn’t already capture the spirit of the character, with that on top the kid is Spider-Man.”
