This Is What Vin Diesel Would Look Like As BLACK BOLT

New fan art imagines Vin Diesel as Black Bolt, reigniting fan support for the actor to play the silent Inhuman king in the MCU.
    By Frank PalmerOctober 14, 2015

Vin Diesel has long expressed interest in playing Marvel’s Black Bolt, the silent but powerful leader of the Inhumans. While no official casting has ever materialized, the idea has remained a popular “what if” among fans — especially considering Diesel’s existing connection to the MCU as the voice of Groot.

Now, digital artist BossLogic has given fans a glimpse of what Diesel could look like in the role. Known for his striking and imaginative fan castings, BossLogic’s latest artwork transforms the Fast & Furious star into Blackagar Boltagon, complete with the iconic Inhuman suit and signature tuning fork emblem on his forehead. The result is a striking visual that has sparked fresh interest in the idea of Diesel taking on the role in live action.

While the Inhumans have had a rocky on-screen history — most notably with ABC’s short-lived Inhumans series in 2017 — the Marvel Cinematic Universe has since introduced alternate versions of the characters. Anson Mount reprised his portrayal of Black Bolt in a surprise cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), hinting that Marvel still considers the character relevant in the evolving multiverse landscape.

Diesel has kept the possibility alive in interviews and on social media over the years. His physicality, deep voice, and commanding presence would lend themselves naturally to a character who doesn’t speak — not because he can’t, but because his voice is powerful enough to level mountains. Black Bolt communicates through gestures, expressions, and sheer force of will — all traits Diesel has conveyed in other roles, especially in stoic characters like Riddick or Dom Toretto.

It’s worth noting that Diesel’s existing role as Groot doesn’t necessarily disqualify him from a second MCU part. With the multiverse now in play, Marvel has more flexibility than ever when it comes to casting familiar faces in new ways — and fans are clearly open to seeing Diesel take on more than one mantle.

BossLogic’s take only fuels that desire, showing how well Diesel could fit visually into the Inhuman King’s dark and mysterious persona. Whether or not Marvel ever moves forward with a proper Inhumans reboot, fan demand — and fan art — like this ensures that the conversation isn’t over.
