    5 Interesting Upcoming Horror Movies

    By Jonathan EdwardsNovember 11, 2015

    horror

As a fan of all things horror, I’ve compiled another list of 5 horror movies that have yet to be released. Now unfortunately some of these movies have no official release date however that doesn’t mean you should be any less excited. So get your pen and paper out and make a note in your diaries for …

    5. Francesca

    fran

Two detectives must catch a serial killer but their only chance to find him is to solve the case of a missing girl who disappeared 15 years ago.

    Director: Luciano Onetti

Starring: Luis Emilio Rodriguez, Gustavo Dalessanro, Raul Gederlini

    Release: TBA

Currently being premiered around many film festivals and winning a number of awards, Francesca is a homage to the old fashioned giallos. The visuals look spot on, the story seems intriguing and the soundtrack is authentically wild. If you’re a fan of Dario Argento or Mario Bava then this is something that’s worth keeping an eye on. In the meantime you can watch the trailer on YouTube and witness the lurid coloured madness for yourselves.

    4. Freaks of Nature

In the town of Dilford, vampires, humans and zombies used to get along, but with the arrival of extraterrestrial beings, it’s humans vs vampires vs zombies in an all out mortal combat. Now three teenagers must try to bring things back to “normal.”

    Director: Robbie Pickering (not Ronnie!)*

Starring: Nicholas Braun, Mackenzie Davis, Josh Fadem

Release: Limited release in the US 30th October 2015 – TBA

This horror-comedy seems to be an interesting mash up of various horror genres with zombies, vampires and extraterrestrials all running wild. From the looks of the trailer there seems to be plenty of blood, hilarity and insanity to be had. Certainly a required taste, however if you’re a fan of horror-comedies then this’ll be right up your alley.

*Ronnie Pickering – viral sensation. Give it a watch.

    3. Southbound

Five interlocking tales of terror follow the fates of a group of weary travellers who confront their worst nightmares – and darkest secrets – over one long night on a desolate stretch of a desert highway.

Director: Roxanne Benjamin, David Bruckner, Patrick Horvath, Radio Silence

Starring: Kate Beahan, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Susan Burke

    Release: 2nd February 2016

If you’ve enjoyed the VHS franchise anywhere near as much as I have then you’ll be happy to know that some of the same directors have come back for this anthology. Currently being played in numerous festivals, Southbound is due to get a limited theatrical release next year. Expect a glorious mashup of thriller, sci fi and horror to satisfy your sick desires.

    2. Green Room

A young punk rock band find themselves trapped in a secluded venue after stumbling upon a horrific act of violence.

    Director: Jeremy Saulnier

Starring: Imogen Poots, Anton Yelchin, Patrick Stewart

    Release: 15th April 2016

Jeremy Saulnier’s follow up to his 2013 film Blue Ruin is already proving to be a hit with critics and I for one cannot wait to feast my eyes on this bad boy. With a mixture of horrific violence and dark comedy, Green Room seems to be a winner with the horror fans as well. With a strong cast and a great premise, it seems as if Jeremy Saulnier is destined to make a vacuous Hollywood blockbuster in the not so distant future!

    1. Krampus

    12243770_10156249996335154_1546142152_n

A boy who has a bad Christmas ends up accidentally summoning a Christmas demon to his family home.

    Director: Michael Dougherty

Starring: Toni Collette, Allison Tolman, Adam Scott, David Koechner

    Release: December 4th 2015

Finally a Christmas movie that we can all look forward too. It’s been quite a while since we’ve had a Christmas themed horror movie and Krampus seems destined to become a classic. Directed by Michael Dougherty, whose gained a cult following among horror junkies for his work on Trick ´r Treat, this little oddity seems to tick all the right boxes. So be prepared for some suspenseful, humorous, bloody festivities.
