Last time we heard, Universal was still looking to unite it’s classic monster characters into a single cinematic universe, but now it looks like they have their first Actress in mind.
THR is reporting that Universal is looking at Angelina Jolie to play The Bride of Frankenstein in the universe, even going so far as to claim that the studio funded Jolie’s pet project, By The Sea, in an attempt to secure her participation in the film as well as the sequel to the 2008 film, Wanted.
The website states:
But even if Universal loses tens of millions of dollars on By the Sea, the studio is gambling that by backing Jolie Pitt’s artistic whim, she will be amenable to starring in its tent pole Bride of Frankenstein, which is part of the Monster’s universe from producers Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan, or a long-hoped-for sequel to Wanted.
It will be interesting to see if this plan plays out given that, By The Sea, is currently both a financial and critical failure, something which could possibly Dishearten Jolie.
