Fans have been pretty excited for the return of Jay and Silent Bob in two more View Askineverse films: a third installment to Clerks, and finally a Mallrats sequel.

Kevin Smith switched his focus to horror this last decade. The last comedy he made was Cop Out, in which he only directed. Since, he made Red State with John Goodman and Michael Parks. Then he went one to Tusk, which has evolved into a trilogy.

For this part three, Smith announced on Facebook that the stoner pals would return even sooner than Mallbrats. “#MooseJaws features the cinematic return of @jayandsilentbob! It’s a mashup of my movies as the ol’ ‪#‎Askewniverse‬ meets the ‪#‎SMuniverse‬ (the ‪#‎SModcast‬ universe)”

“We start in July with ‪#‎Mallrats‬ sequel to follow in the fall (I thought we’d be doing ‪#‎mallrats2‬ now but moose money manifested first)!” he went on.

Denofgeeks.com talked to Jason Mewes further on the upcoming agenda for Bob and Jay. “MallBrats, we’re hoping, will happen by the middle of this year. At the end of this year at the latest, hopefully…..It looks like Clerks III, right now, is sort of put on the backburner ‘til maybe the end of next year.”

Besides reprising Jay soon, Mewes served as a producer on Yoga Hosers. “With our podcast Jay And Silent Bob Get Old, Kevin and I have gotten really close….It’s been cool, for me, to be on the other side of things, where I get to be part of the process of helping make the movies. So I’ll definitely be part of both those movies, when they happen.”

Before Moose Jaws, you can catch Jason Mewes as both a robot monkey, and a wannabe superhero named Kit, in Bling on Google Play.
