Rob Liefeld Reveals Why He Didn’t Let CABLE Appear In Deadpool

    By Martin LisMay 2, 2016

Fan-favorite X-Man/Deadpool’s buddy cop Cable has already been slated to appear in the next Deadpool installment by the Merc with a Mouth himself. However, one cannot help but wonder if there was an initial decision to have Cable involved in the original film.

Rob Liefeld, creator of Deadpool in the comics, apparently was the one who made the decision not to include him as he spoke to Inverse:

“Half of us believed the movie should involve Cable. I could feel Cable breathing down my neck, I said, ‘No. Don’t put Cable in the first movie.’ If Cable comes later, great. Deadpool is a vehicle for Ryan to shine. Cable bogs it down, I’m not sure it works as a first film with a general audience. I got in the car and I said, ‘Did I really just kill the appearance of my other more popular character?”

Considering Deadpool worked so well as a simple origin story and had a lot of highs with Ryan Reynold’s portrayal the character, it does make sense to limit the characters and give Wade some real spotlight for his first proper appearance. In the meantime, we can only imagine their future interaction would have a similar chemistry to this:

Deadpool comes out on BluRay and DVD May 10th.

What do you think of his decision? Sound off below!
