Disney Reportedly Very Unhappy With The Quality of ROGUE ONE: A Star Wars Story

This year sees the first of three expected Spin-Off films set in the Star Wars universe in the form of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Many fans were excited by this further exploration into the franchise’s mythos, but it sounds as though they may be in for disappointment if latest reports are anything to go by.

According to the website, Page Six, the film has been ‘testing poorly‘, understandably leading to panic amongst the executives at Disney. The site explains that they are disappointed with the first cut that Godzilla director Gareth Edwards has brought them and the film will undergo four weeks worth of re-shoots in July in an attempt to bring it more in line with their vision. The site also explains that these re-shoots are said to be ‘expensive‘, meaning that the film may be in worse shape than assumed.

    However, a Disney source revealed:

“The filmmaking team and the studio always anticipated additional shooting and second unit work to make the film the absolute best it can be, and the actors were aware there would be additional shooting. Coming off ‘The Force Awakens,’ there’s an incredibly high bar for this movie and we have a responsibility to the franchise and to the fans to deliver the best possible movie we can.”

It certainly sounds as though they are trying to downplay these rumors, so whose to say what the truth of the matter maybe. It may certainly lead them to rethink their other Spin-off’s focusing on the adventures of Young Han Solo and intergalactic Badass Boba Fett due 2018 and 2020 respectively. Hopefully, we’ll be given the best possible film we can when it hits theaters December 16th, 2016.
