John Carpenter Takes A Shot At THE WALKING DEAD

    By Jonathan EdwardsJuly 4, 2016

John Carpenter is a horror legend. He created the blueprint for slasher genre with Halloween and pushed the boundaries of special effects with The Thing. He’s responsible for a variety of iconic film soundtracks and whole handful of cult movies that people worldwide adore. And he’s a man who doesn’t hold his words …

He recently bashed Friday The 13th as a cynical rip off, with people many people in the business simply wanting to make a quick buck. However, after talking in a recent episode on the Marc Maron podcast, it seems as if John Carpenter feels the quite similar about The Walking Dead.

“[The Walking Dead] was a movie that George Romero made back in 1968. And they have milked that, and they are still milking it.”

The Walking Dead is certainly not perfect by any means however to say it’s milking George Romero’s Night of The Living Dead is quite frankly bizarre. The zombie genre had been going quite sometime before that so to say that any other films since then is simply ‘milking it’ doesn’t really make much sense. Let’s just hope that John Carpenter can use that same passion into making a great film, as after all, it’s been a while!

What do you think of John Carpenter’s latest comments? What don’t you like about The Walking Dead? Do you think Friday The 13th is a cynical rip off? Sound off down below!
