Yet more casting news, Spider-Man: Homecoming has added another member to its youthful cast with The Nice Guy’s Angourie Rice joining the troupe. The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter who announced the casting earlier today. There’s no information yet on who she might be playing but judging from looks alone, it seems as if Rice would be the perfect Gwen Stacey.
Whether or not she’ll be playing the part is an entirely different matter however, with Gwen playing such a big role in Marc Webb’s adaption, it’ll be a little surprising to see the character enter the frame once again. With rumours circulating that there’ll be three villains present, one does fear that Homecoming might fall foul to the previous mistakes that other Spider-Man films have suffered from in the past with such an extensive cast.
On the other hand, Spider-Man: Homecoming is shaping up to be an interesting addition into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with this particular incarnation focusing on Parker’s High School years. With a multicultural cast, it seems as if this will be a much welcomed addition to the superhero genre, with a wide range of diversity highlighting modern day New York.
