While not as big (pun fully intended~) as other Marvel films, 2015’s Ant-Man. Was a decent success. It made good money at the box office and gained positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. With that in mind, Marvel was more than happy to greenlight a sequel with upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Evangeline Lilly will be suiting up as the titular Wasp, reprising her role as Hope van Dyne. For those who typically leave the theater when the credits roll, there was a scene mid-credits where van Dyne is given the Wasp suit. This has not only built up hype for the Ant-Man sequel, but have also left MCU fans questions on if the Wasp will participate in any other films, such as The Avengers.
Well, at New York Comic-Con, Evangeline Lilly was more than happy to give them the answer they were looking for. When asked about the character’s further involvement in the MCU, she stated:
Following that one, there’s an Avengers series coming out, it’s a two-parter. The Wasp won’t be in the first part, she’ll be in the second part, because they really want to preserve that reveal for Ant-Man and the Wasp.”
The “Avengers series” she refers to is the upcoming two-part film Avengers: Infinity War. Part 1 will be released before Ant-Man and the Wasp and Part 2 is set to come out some time after it. Whether or not the character will have that large of a role in the two-parter is not yet known, but MCU fans await more news as the months go on.
