Andy Park, concept artist for Marvel Studios, recently revealed some new images for designs that were almost used for Star-Lord and the Nova Corps. And let’s just say they were quite different than the finished product.

You can view the designs below which Andy explains the reasoning behind his Star-Lord design, and even considers him a “space pirate scavenger.”

You can also see him explain that Guardians of the Galaxy was viewed by Marvel as their version of Star Wars, and that explains why the Nova Corps looks like such in their concept art.

It’s not yet known whether or not these designs will make their way into the sequel, but it’s likely we’ll get all sorts of cool concepts as we get closer to Thanos getting his hands on the Infinity Stones.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017.

What do you think, do you like these designs? Let us know in the comments below!
