Oscars: Steve Harvey Says Warren Beatty Should ‘Call Him’

    By Martin LisFebruary 27, 2017

Regardless whether you were on the side that wanted La La Land to win, Moonlight to win, or just didn’t care about the politics behind it and just watched the show, you have to admit the stunt pulled at the Best Pictures category is all the rage in news outlets and social media alike.

The final category for the Oscars had actor Warren Beatty present the winner from the card as La La Land. It was then revealed halfway through the winning speeches that La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz corrected the mistake upon noticing the film read was incorrect, announcing as he held up the card:

“There’s a mistake. Moonlight, you win best picture.”

As it turns out, Beatty was handed an envelope in a disorganized order:

“I opened the envelop and it said ‘Emma stone, La La Land’. That’s why I took such a long look at Faye and you. I wasn’t trying to be funny.”

While it seemed to have been the responsibility of the organizers, Beatty was the poster boy for this mistake to the public eye. Many recited that this was very similar to how Family Feud host Steve Harvey made a blunder like this in the Miss Universe Pageant back in 2015. Harvey himself even expressed in his tweet:

Good morning everybody! Went to sleep early last night. So… what I miss? #Oscars

Call me Warren Beatty. I can help you get through this! #Oscars

However, the bigger difference is while Beatty was given the wrong card, Harvey literally called out the wrong name despite this.
