The MCU has been gracing our movie screens with many films but never have they had a solo female lead picture, until now. Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson, has started production and with a release date of March 8th 2019 you can bet they are filming the good stuff. They have a lot to prove with this movie, such as how amazing female superheroes are and yes, they can take the lead just fine. That being said, they could very easily mess this film up – but we highly doubt that because the origin story of Captain Marvel is just fantastic!
The Captain Marvel film is going to focus on Larson’s character being caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races and they also have set the time period of the movie back in the 1990s. Kevin Feige had an interview long before the movie started production and explained how perfect Larson was for the role – and how strong Captain Marvel will be.
“With Captain Marvel, she is as powerful a character as we’ve ever put in a movie. Her powers are off the charts, and when she’s introduced, she will be by far the strongest character we’ve ever had. It’s important, then, to counterbalance that with someone who feels real. She needs to have a humanity to tap into, and Brie can do that.”
We can definitely see Larson pulling off the character in the new set photos found on Twitter, and you guessed it, she is dressed in 90’s clothing. Wearing a bulky black leather jacket with a plaid sweater wrapped around her high rise pre-washed jeans, she still looks great and excited to be there. We will also see familiar faces in this origin story, such as a younger Nick Fury before he lost the use of one of his eyes and started pulling off the wicked eye patch.
With the set photos showing their dedication to the 90’s, and how excited Feige is to have Brie Larson play the role of the ‘strongest character’ they have ever had, you can bet your butt you are in for one heck of a ride. It shall be interesting to see how they tie this movie into the others, and how well they can really pull of a look that most of us still hold dear in our hearts… 90’s kids unite!
Is there a particular look you hope is shown in this movie? What do you think about Kevin Fiege’s opinion on Captain Marvel? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!
