As all eyes turned towards the promotional material for Captain Marvel which was finally unleashed online this week, there was a brief and merciful pause in the incessant flood of fan theories and predictions that have been clogging up everybody’s news feeds in relation to next year’s other MCU movie, Avengers 4. But work on what is fast shaping up to be the BIGGEST entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date has carried on regardless, with photos emerging today of reshoots for the movie that are currently underway in and around Georgia.
Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson have been snapped filming scenes at the 24 hr Landmark Jr. Diner in NE Atlanta. In addition to these pictures, fans have also finally received confirmation that the movie will also see Clint Barton reuniting with the other surviving Avengers, as Jeremy Renner posted a series of shots from the set of the Infinity War sequel. So do these new images get be anything away about the film’s storyline?
The answer is a resounding YES. Whilst the selfies that Renner posted don’t demonstrate much other than Clint’s haircut continues to get higher and tighter with each movie he appears in, the turnout of his two fellow team-mates adds to the growing evidence that Avengers 4 will see the team travelling back in time to the key events of the previous MCU movies.
Leaked set photos and casting calls from the film’s production have suggested that when the team eventually rescue Scott Lang from inside the Quantum Realm, Tony will take the Pym tech Scott was using and adapt it to allow the Avengers to head back to each time they first encountered the Infinity Stones, and to change the course of the MCU’s history meaning they do not fall into the hands of Thanos.
With Chris Evans having shaved off his beard and shaggy mane, and ScarJo having reverted from her new blonde hairdo back to her more traditional red headed look, it seems clear that the two are either playing the versions of themselves from 10 years ago, or their future versions trying to blend back into the past.
We don’t know about you guys, but the prospect of seeing:
- Steve. Tony, Nat and Scott returning to the Battle Of New York
- Bruce and Clint cropping up again in Age Of Ultron,
- Thor going back through time to The Dark World
- Rocket and Nebula heading back to the Battle for Xandar
is all a bit too much for us to deal with, and leaves us needing a very long le-down in a very darkened room with our thoughts…
Avengers 4 is scheduled for release May 13, 2019.
