Production is now underway on Todd Phillips’ upcoming origin movie centered on everybody’s favorite Clown Prince of Crime, The Joker. Up until now, we’ve only seen Joaquin Phoenix in his Arthur Fleck days both in set pictures and in a portrait released by Phillips himself. Now thanks to a recent tweet we may see what the actor would look like when he’s clowning around. Read on to check it out.
The tweet was released by Warner Brothers official account and was a repost of test footage released by The Hangover director. The footage doesn’t show much but it does give us a look at Phoenix sporting some eerily familiar Clown makeup.

Whether this is how Fleck will look when he finally does become The Joker remains to be seen, but you can’t help but feel that fans will ultimately be disappointed if that is the look they elect to go for since it seems so simplistic. The production has recently been shooting scenes set on Amusement Mile, a famous location in Gotham City in the comics meaning it could simply be hinting at Arthur Fleck being a clown at some point in his early days.
Overall, this gives us an interesting look at the both the character and the film, which is definitely shaping up to be something interesting. Let’s just hope we get another official look at the character in the near future.
Todd Phillips’ Joker is set to be released October 4th 2019.
