It has been a bit of a renaissance lately for our friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man. The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of Spidey has been a breath of fresh air, giving us arguably the best, and certainly most comic accurate, version of Peter Parker with Tom Holland. Top that off with creatively unique, award winning, and inspiring Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, and the Wall Crawler’s time on the big screen has never been better. Now, as we approach the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Holland has a suggestion for a future installment that would probably cause fans’ head to collectively explode.
Jake Hamilton of ‘Jake’s Takes’ on YouTube interviewed Tom during the press junket for his upcoming sequel where Holland stated he would love a live action Spider-Verse style movie with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who both previously played Spidey in their own film versions of the character.
“It would be amazing. It would be really, really cool, and it’s something that the fans really want. So, whether Marvel and Sony decided to do that, it’s up to them. It’s not up to me. I can’t walk in like, ‘Kevin [Feige], this is what we’re doing on the next one!’ But it would be really awesome.”
It would be fascinating, to say the least, to see this come to life. It is highly unlikely, but if anyone could pull it off, Marvel Studios and Sony could do it. Fans wouldn’t even know how to handle the news of it happening, much less the actual film itself. It could seriously be the biggest movie ever, crushing even Endgame at the box office in a heartbeat. For now, though, it is only a faraway pipe dream, forever in the ‘What If?’ column.
