As Marvel continues to announce their upcoming projects at Comic-Con, aside from their movies, they’re quickly revealing more of the series that we can expect on the Disney+ streaming service. While fans may have already known or speculated about the following series, everyone should be excited about the newly-announced original series Loki!
The series will once again see star Tom Hiddleston in the role of Loki, the brother of Thor and everyone’s favorite mischief maker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The series’ showrunner will be Michael Waldron (Community, Rick and Morty).
Loki will apparently follow the titular character as he “pops up throughout human history as [an] unlikely influencer on historical events.”
According to the first image released from the series, Loki should arrive in America sometime in 1975. It’ll be interesting to see if and how this will effect the overall canon of the existing Marvel Cinematic Universe, and what role it will play in Loki’s future appearances.
Either way, fans should be excited to see Hiddleston return in his role as Loki, and especially with the potential to further develop his character arcs via long form storytelling. After all, the more time viewers spend with Loki, it’ll only make him even more likable to fans. And with showrunner Michael Waldron onboard, we can expect a solid sense of comedy without sacrificing the importance of the story. Hopefully with the added perks of taking place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and featuring one of the more iconic characters, Waldron will have the resources needed to help steer such a potentially solid series in the right direction.
The series Loki is set to premiere on Disney+ in the Spring of 2021.
