Joaquin Phoenix Gets Snippy With Reporters After Being “Tricked” Into Golden Globes Press Room

Joaquin Phoenix won a Golden Globe for Best Actor at the awards ceremony last night for his performance in Joker, and despite the big win, was noticeably annoyed while attending the press room. Apparently, it’s because he thought he was going somewhere else, and was tricked into going into the room.

    Phoenix stated:

“I didn’t know that I was coming up here just now. They f*cking tricked me.”

He was then asked a question that he’s apparently been asked quite a bit now about how he prepared for playing the role of the Joker, and responded by saying:

“Isn’t this old news? I think I’ve talked about this for six months. I mean, right? I feel like I answered these questions. You want to hear a different version of it? I can try to change it slightly, or what should I do?”

He eventually gave a different answer, as you can see in the video below:

Some fans weren’t too happy about how he handled it:

After his winning speech, and this…. I’m thinking he wasn’t acting much in the movie.

Good actor, not so great a person.

Sorry no one wanted to talk about “Walk The Line” or your Letterman appearance. In the journalist’s defense, Joker IS the reason you were at the presser.

Oof I love this man but he didn’t have to be so sarcastic about it. It comes across rude.

It’s definitely an interesting exchange and follows a very interesting awards ceremony, that saw Ricky Gervais blast Hollywood in his opening monologue. Either way, I don’t think anyone will argue that Joaquin Phoenix didn’t deserve the award, as he gave the performance of a lifetime in Joker.
