Well, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I have some good news and some bad news. 2020 has been the year from hell. The COVID-19 global pandemic shut down the world, including the entertainment industry. Hollywood was at a stand still, productions were halted, theaters were closed down, and everything we were expecting to see got delayed, by a lot. In the case of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it looked like this would be the first year since 2009 without a Marvel property hitting our eyes. WandaVision, the new kicking off point for the MCU’s Phase 4, seemed to be saving the day, coming to Disney Plus in 2020. However, that’s not the case – though it wasn’t far off. It’s in 2021.

Marvel took to Twitter to share the official release notification for the series that will now launch Phase 4, WandaVision. The first episode will be released January 15th, 2021. For months, higher ups at Marvel and Disney swore that it would be coming out by the end of this year, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. It would seem that Disney didn’t want to take away from The Mandalorian and its second season, so the mind bending MCU series will kick off a very packed year. Along with this show, we’re getting three Marvel films, the year-long delayed Black Widow and Eternals, as well as Shang-Chi, and another Disney Plus series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This gives us a jam-packed 2021 for fans, but bittersweet that we can’t end the year with a little Marvel in our life.
Truthfully, we’re just nine weeks away from the release, and if we’ve waited this long, we can wait just a tad longer. The studio most likely just wants to make sure everything is perfect before release, instead of rushing an unfinished project. And, considering the extensive CGI necessary for Wanda’s powers and the crazy world they’ll be in, it makes sense. So, mark your calendars, make a paper chain of days left, get an MCU advent calendar, and get ready for WandaVision to premiere January 15th, 2021!
