There are many reasons as to why John Carpenter’s Halloween has become a major classic in the horror genre. If the iconic opening sequence with a young Michael Myers wasn’t the turning point, then certainly it was when he escaped from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium. The scene further sets the tone for the rest of the film, especially emphasizing just how much more intimidating an adult Michael Myers is compared to the child we saw moments prior. One of the scariest moments in this scene is when Michael Myers attacks the car of Dr. Loomis and Marion Chambers. Now it looks like the highly anticipated movie Halloween Kills will create a similar scene as indicated by a newly released image.
As shown in the new Halloween Kills image, there’s a clear look at Michael Myers and his burned mask as he attacks someone in their car. The image, which comes courtesy of Fandango, doesn’t reveal too much about the film or the scene it’s from. But it does guarantee that this Michael Myers is certainly just as brutal as ever, and that the film most definitely will live up to its title – Halloween Kills. With a little over a month left to wait, it’s going to be an exciting time when Halloween Kills finally makes its way into theaters.
As for the plot of the upcoming film…
“Minutes after Laurie Strode, her daughter Karen and granddaughter Allyson left masked monster Michael Myers caged and burning in Laurie’s basement, Laurie is rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, believing she finally killed her lifelong tormentor. But when Michael manages to free himself from Laurie’s trap, his ritual bloodbath resumes. As Laurie fights her pain and prepares to defend herself against him, she inspires all of Haddonfield to rise up against their unstoppable monster. The Strode women join a group of other survivors of Michael’s first rampage who decide to take matters into their own hands, forming a vigilante mob that sets out to hunt Michael down, once and for all.”
Halloween Kills was directed by David Gordon Green who also helmed the 2018 film. He wrote the script alongside Danny McBride and Scott Teems. The film features a cast that includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Charles Cyphers, Anthony Michael Hall, Kyle Richards, Nancy Stephens, Jibrail Nantambu, and Robert Longstreet. James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle both return as Michael Myers.
Audiences will be able to see Halloween Kills next month on October 15, 2021.
