Halo has been a generation defining video game series for the Xbox. Legions of fans have played the several iterations of the military sci fi firs person shooter game, leading Master Chief into battle and fighting hordes of enemies. The first game debuted in 20 years ago and has been a massive success over the last two decades with 5 sequels and 9 spin offs. Now, Paramount Plus has released a trailer for the television series based on the game franchise.
The trailer showcases a very accurate Master Chief, straight from the game. Played by Pablo Schrieber, Master Chief looks to have ‘a classic hero’s journey’ as the series will “crack [open] the veneer’ of the mysterious leader of the UNSC Marines.

In a recent interview with EW, Schrieber had this to say about the series:
“It takes place very much in the universe that the video games created, but it’s a TV show. We get to expand that universe and create stories in it. There’s going to be some new characters that are introduced, there’s going to be a lot of familiar characters that everyone will know from the game.”
With already having a rich world from the games to work off of, the TV series looks to flesh out more characters and expand on the fan favorite universe. And, with Halo: Infinite already having success a full twenty years after the release of the first game, the series will most likely be a hit amongst fans. Of course, there is always the concern of bastardizing a beloved franchise and fans will certainly be hypercritical, but from the trailer, it looks like Paramount has nailed it.
With the recent success of streaming series like what Disney Plus has done with the Marvel shows and Star Wars, fans should be more excited than cautious for the Halo series and what it will bring to the beloved game franchise.
