It’s hard to believe that fans could be more excited for anything like they were for Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, the internet broke down last Monday when the Moon Knight trailer debuted during Monday Night Football. This Disney Plus series looks to go into a whole new realm when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While WandaVision dived a bit into emotional distress and mental health, Moon Knight will go deep into that realm as well as the supernatural that has been teased a bit along the way. And, as proof of its impact on fans, the trailer has set a new record amongst the Disney Plus MCU.
The trailer was immediately released on YouTube after its appearance on Monday Night Football and fans are really loving it. So much so that it has already reached over a million likes on YouTube, making it the most liked trailer for a Disney Plus MCU series to date. For comparison, Hawkeye’s first trailer has around 915,000, WandaVision’s first trailer has about 760,000, Loki’s two trailers have 723,000 for the second and nearly 700,000 for the first, and so on. And this is definitely not a fluke.
Moon Knight looks to be a darker and more aggressive story from the MCU, akin to the Netflix Marvel series that fans loved. This shift in tone is something that many fans have been asking for and this series looks to be delivering it in spades.
With the underlying story of Marc Spector’s Dissociative Identity Disorder and the insane God of the Moon supernatural side of it, Moon Knight looks to deliver a new side of the MCU that will lead into Blade and other darker, more supernatural stories. Hell, it may even lead to a MCU version of The Midnight Sons as well as vampires (which have been teased quite a bit in Phase 4), werewolves, and more monsters and legends to add a new angle to the already crazy multiverse chaos we’re getting.
