The official trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has finally hit online, following several teasers beginning with the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. While the other teasers managed to hint at the narrative for the film, this newest trailer is much more in-depth and gives fans their best idea yet at the direction of the film. Furthermore, it reveals that an actor associated with the X-Men film franchise will now be appearing within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Specifically, for those who’ve seen the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer, they might have recognized the voice of Patrick Stewart (Professor X). Indeed, it’s been confirmed that Patrick Stewart will be appearing in the upcoming MCU film.
This information, which was confirmed by a Disney representative via ComicBook, should be extremely exciting for fans of the MCU. It should also be exciting for fans of the X-Men film franchise, considering how those movies have been previously disconnected from the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe. But since Disney’s acquisition of Fox, they’ve been gradually planning a way to reintroduce these beloved characters, and it seems we’re now seeing the first steps of this plan.
Of course, as mentioned above, the only hint of Patrick Stewart in the Doctor Strange sequel that fans have so far is the actor’s voice. It’s unclear, then, just how much of the actor will be utilized in the final film. But considering how much appropriate screen time was given to actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it could be a decent bit. At least enough to establish his role and potentially tie things together with the X-Men film series. Fans will likely just have to wait for the official release to know for sure.
