In an unfortunate announcement, it’s been revealed that iconic actor Bruce Willis is “stepping away” from his acting career. It’s been revealed that Bruce Willis has been having issues with aphasia, a health condition that’s been “impacting his cognitive abilities.”

This information was revealed by Bruce Willis’s daughter via Instagram. She also noted that she, Bruce Willis, and their entire family “are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support.”

    As she wrote in full:

“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.

As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him,” she further wrote. “This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. “
She also mentioned how they wanted to keep fans informed of Bruce Willis and his new health condition:
“We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.
As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that.
    Love,
Emma, Demi, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, & Evelyn”

Aphasia is a condition that can occur either right away after “a stroke or a head injury,” or it can be brought on by a “slow-growing brain tumor” or another degenerative disease. Specifically, as revealed via Mayo Clinic, it “robs you off the ability to communicate. It can affect your ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written.”

This is definitely shocking news, considering how much of an impact Bruce Willis has had over the years. The actor has been involved with a variety of hits, including Die Hard, The Fifth Element, and Unbreakable to name just a few.
