It isn’t any surprise that Disney has been attempting to add more diversity to their projects. While some of these additions have been well-received, there are some changes that others are less tolerant of. In fact, Disney has made it clear that they generally do not condone most if not any conservative employees, and some like Gina Carano have been completely fired for their political views. Now it seems hundreds have gathered to protest Disney at their offices in Burbank, California.
As you can see below, the rally even included Disney employees that felt Disney’s new agenda has made it difficult for them to be themselves. One such employee managed to speak up during the rally and express their feelings and tell others like her that they aren’t alone.
She first stated:
“I’ve worked for Disney for quite a long time and it has gotten very political and it’s gotten very hard to be who you are and it’s gotten very hard to be someone who has conservative values,” the woman began.
“It’s hard to be somebody who believes in the right to choose, who believes that it’s okay to stand up for righteousness. Any Disney cast members that are afraid to be bold, afraid to be courageous, stand up! It’s okay – you’re not alone!”
Many of the individuals in the protest believe that Disney has gone too far in their agenda. They insist that kids should be kids, and that Disney should not sexualize them. The company has already announced that their theme parks will no longer use “gendered greetings” like “ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,” as a means to respect children that don’t use those pronouns.
It’s clear that Disney is eagerly trying to push their company the way they see fit, so with people now rallying against that, it’ll be interesting to see what the company chooses to do next.
