With comic books focusing on increasing diversity and inclusivity, we’ve seen some rather interesting changes with a variety of iconic characters. Now it appears Bruce Wayne’s Batman could be the next character to be given such a change. Specifically, Batman has now been hinted to be bisexual by DC Comics.
The hint occurs in the latest issue of Batman: The Knight #5. The issue features a moment where young Bruce Wayne approaches a fellow trainee named Anton. The two look at one another’s eyes and it appears that they’re about to move in for a kiss before being interrupted. While this isn’t an explicit confirmation that Batman is bisexual, it’s certainly a pretty big hint that he is.
Here it is below:
This possible revelation comes not long after Tim Drake, one of several characters to become the masked superhero Robin, was confirmed to be bisexual. While Tim Drake’s bisexuality is much more apparent, it seems like the road has been paved to do the same with Batman. As such, we’ll have to see what happens to the character on that front.
As for now, fans are already reacting to the moment on social media. Here are some of their responses to the scene included in the comic book issue:
Interestingly, one fan brought up a moment where Bruce Wayne has another similarly flirty moment with John Constantine from a recent issue of Batman: Urban Legends. You can see that moment also shared below:
While Batman hasn’t yet been confirmed by DC to be bisexual, the building blocks have certainly been placed there. Only time will tell how they decide to handle this moment. But it’s safe to say that, at the very least, Bruce Wayne’s Batman appears to have been bi-curious as a young person to say the very least.
