The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been gradually introducing new superheroes to its lineup. This will include the character Riri Williams aka Ironheart who will first be introduced this year in Black Panther: Wakdana Forever. It’s unknown exactly how much of an impact this appearance will have on the film. However, the character will be given their own spin-off series via Disney Plus appropriately titled Ironheart. Now we might know who the villain of Ironheart will be – and it’s an interesting choice.
According to KC Walsh on Twitter, the villain of the Ironheart series will reportedly be The Hood. While those unfamiliar with the comics might assume the character has some past history with Riri Williams – that actually isn’t the case. The two are generally not associated with one another. As such, while it should be taken with a grain of salt, this information is very interesting if true.
As they’ve stated, it will be a case of “magic vs mechanics,” which would be something of a new angle to explore for an Iron Man-esque character:
“So they really are putting The Hood in #Ironheart, magic vs mechanics”
In the comics, The Hood is known for being a magic user named Parker Robbins. He most notably uses a magical pair of boots and a cloak stolen from a demon, which grant him the abilities to teleport and become invisible. As such, one must wonder what kinds of battles we could expect between him and someone with a superpowered suit of armor like Riri Williams. It could definitely lead to quite the showdown.
Dominique Thorne will be playing the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s iteration of Riri Williams. The Ironheart Disney Plus series is expected to premiere on the streaming platform sometime next year in 2023. Fans will first see its titular character, aka Riri Williams, however, in the upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on November 11, 2022.
