Fans are always ready to see a crazy Nicolas Cage role as only he can perform. Excitingly enough, then, fans can see Cage tackle the role of Count Dracula himself in the new trailer for Renfield. The upcoming horror comedy focuses on the titular character, Dracula’s iconic servant, who will be played by Nicholas Hoult.
Of course, as mentioned, this will be quite different from other Dracula-related tales. As a horror comedy, it’s been described as a “modern-day adventure story that is comedic in tone.” So, without a doubt, this will be an exciting new take on the traditional vampire stories.
As fans can see below, it looks like Dracula’s servant has had enough of working for the iconic monster. This sends him on a quest where he actually falls in love with a traffic cop named Rebecca Quincy, played by Awkwafina.
Here’s the brand-new trailer for Renfield:
With only a few more months before the film hits theaters, eager viewers won’t have to wait long. The new trailer is no doubt a hilarious and zany glimpse at the horror-adjacent madness to come. It looks like 2023 will certainly be a great year for horror.
Renfield is being directed by Chris McKay. The film itself was written by Ryan Ridley based on a story outline from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. Chris McKay and Robert Kirkman are producing along with David Alpert, Bryan Furst and Sean Furst. Chris McKay’s producing partner, Samantha Nisenboim, is attached as executive producer.
In addition to Nicholas Hoult as the titular character, Nicolas Cage as Dracula, and Awkwafina as Rebecca Quincy, the cast for the film also includes Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Bess Rouss.
Fans will be able to see Renfield in theaters on April 14, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on the highly-anticipated horror comedy as we have them.
