It appears that angry SnyderVerse fans managed to get "#FireJamesGunn" to trend after James Gunn revealed his plans for the DCU.

DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran recently announced their plans for the DCU. Many fans were excited about the new direction they decided to take. Unfortunately, many SnyderVerse fans were upset by the suggestion of a new DCU.

Social media users have already seen how quickly SnyderVerse fans will take advantage of Twitter. After all, they launched several campaigns to have Zack Snyder’s Justice League finished and released. Now they’ve managed to get “#FireJamesGunn” trending as well.

Of course, this isn’t exactly surprising. James Gunn has already faced backlash over his decision to replace Henry Cavill’s Superman with a younger actor. Furthermore, Gunn noted that he was aware of how upset fans would get over his takeover of DC. But, as you can see below, fans are still going to try their best to vocalize their disappointment:

Let’s ignore the mid slate and focus on this. #FireJamesGunn #SellZSJLtoNetflix pic.twitter.com/H00woIZ1Hr

We traded a Darkseid invasion for this. 😐#FireJamesGunn #BoycottWB pic.twitter.com/61TCTU8c4Q

That’s so on brand for James Gunn to focus on some no names for him to self insert so no one will realize he doesn’t know how to write these characters. And now your locked into to watch all the mid TV shows to understand the movies lmao good luck#FireJamesGunn pic.twitter.com/LPw894mBEQ

And there won’t be another JL for another 7 YEARS? I’ll be as old as Henry was in MOS by then. Because of yall “true DC fans” yall have to start over from scratch for nearly a decade instead of just letting zack finish his movies like next year. Fuck yall #FireJamesGunn

#firejamesgunn this is the difference between a masterpiece and trash.. the trash was produced by Jame’s Gunn. pic.twitter.com/EFjXKx8uXO

So, according to James Gunn… Henry Cavill and @TheRock LIED when they announced Cavill’s return as Superman?

Cavill invented the story with them, posted it on his social media and later gave an interview to Josh Horowitz?

Nevertheless, it’s unlikely that there will be any going back at this point. Zack Snyder’s take on DC has come to a close. Now fans will have to accept that there will be a new franchise of DC films and shows on the horizon. And, after how disconnected the previous attempt became, isn’t this really for the best?

James Gunn and Peter Safran are taking their time with crafting a true shared universe. After the brand’s last attempt was rushed in an effort to compete with Marvel, something different is definitely needed. Hopefully this means even SnyderVerse fans will learn to appreciate the new DCU in the coming years.

We’ll just have to see what happens after Superman: Legacy is released in 2025. Until then, however, we’ll likely continue to see fans express their disappointment online. So stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional DCU updates as we have them.

The first film of the DCU, Superman: Legacy, is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
