It was recently announced by Disney that Toy Story 5 is officially in development. As such, fans are eager to know if cast members like Tim Allen will be reprising their iconic roles for the Toy Story sequel. Especially after the stand-alone spin-off Lightyear chose to replace Tim Allen with Chris Evans as the voice of Buzz.
Well, have no fear, as Tim Allen has confirmed he’ll be back for Toy Story 5. He revealed as much in a Twitter post and even teased that Buzz’s best friend Woody will also be back for the film.
Here’s what he shared:
“See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity. And off we go to a number 5! To infinity and beyond!”

Fans of the Toy Story film franchise will also spot more than a few references to Tim Allen’s memorable dialogue as Buzz Lightyear. It’s certainly enough to make fans feel nostalgia for the character and franchise. As such, it’s good to see that Tim Allen will once again be stepping back into the role for Toy Story 5.
Hopefully we’ll have more news regarding the sequel in the near future. After all, with the way Toy Story 4 ended, it seemed clear that Buzz and Woody have officially gone their separate ways. But perhaps there’s a major storyline in the works that will cohesively force their paths to collide once more. As always, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
Until then, however, fans can still see Lightyear which is currently streaming on Disney Plus. The film is intended to be what Andy would’ve watched in the original Toy Story universe to have wanted a Buzz Lightyear toy in the first place.
Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates regarding Toy Story 5 as we have them. For now, however, it’s exciting to know that the film is officially in production with Tim Allen returning as Buzz Lightyear.
