The year 2023 opened with the surprising horror film M3GAN. The new sci-fi horror flick introduced a new killer doll to the genre known for the likes of Chucky and Annabelle. In fact, she even has her own sequel being prepared for 2025. If that wasn’t enough – an unrated cut of M3GAN has now been released.
Of course, you may be wondering what differences the unrated cut of M3GAN has from the theatrical version. Thankfully, we now know the answer. And, as you might imagine, it does include a much more violent version of the film. This should certainly be exciting news for any fans of gore in their horror movies.
Here are the differences in the unrated cut:
The film features extended kill scenes for just about every death in the film. As such, there are added bloody details in each sequence. For example, Ronny Chieng’s character David is more than just impaled. Fans can actually see a blade erupt through his chest – and blood splashes onto his assistant’s face. This is just one of many extended kill scenes featured throughout the runtime. Additionally, the language is a bit more vulgar as well. M3GAN even gets to deliver quite the f-bomb near the end of the film.
Overall, if you’re expecting a longer watch, you might be surprised. The unrated cut of M3GAN actually runs about six seconds shorter than the theatrical version. Nevertheless, this is certainly one version of the film that horror fans won’t want to miss now that it’s available. It should certainly hold fans over until M3GAN 2.0 is released in 2025.
The new film was directed by award-winning filmmaker Gerard Johnstone from a screenplay written by Akela Cooper. The story for the film was created by Akela Cooper and James Wan.
The cast for the film includes Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Ronny Chieng, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Jen Van Epps, Lori Dungey, and Stephane Garneau-Monten.
Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on the killer doll movie and its upcoming sequel as we have them.
