The Alien film franchise has delivered quite frequently ever since the first movie was released in 1979. Now, decades later, a new Alien movie is upon us – and an exciting update has just been released. Fans are definitely going to be excited.
The film franchise’s most recent installments, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, are seemingly being set aside for this next iteration. The new movie, a stand-alone story that’s said to take place between 1979’s Alien and 1986’s Aliens, will deliver a new take from director Fede Alvarez.
Alvarez has had his hand in a number of revivals and original productions in Hollywood. In addition to his own brand of horror including the hit horror film Don’t Breathe, he also successfully revitalized the Evil Dead film franchise with 2013’s remake. As for this particular film, however, it looks like fans can expect a return to the style of the original films in the Alien series.
As for the new update, it’s been confirmed by Deadline that the Alien movie now has an official title. It was unclear up until this point just what the new reboot would be called. Now it appears that one of the rumored titles is official – the movie will be titled Alien: Romulus.
It’s currently unclear how the new title connects with the film’s plot. However, the publication describes the project as following “young people from a distant world” and how they “must face the most terrifying life form in the universe.” Fans of the Xenomorph definitely know just what life form that’ll be.
Hopefully we’ll have more details in the near future. As for now, it’s an exciting step for Alien: Romulus to finally have an official title. With only a few months before the movie is released, it shouldn’t be much longer before more information is revealed.
Fans can expect to see the new movie, Alien: Romulus, when it hits theaters on August 16, 2024. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the highly-anticipated film as we have them.
