Disney Reportedly Cancels 3 Marvel MCU Movies

It's been reported that Disney has allegedly canceled three previously-planned MCU movies from Marvel Studios.

The recent slate of Marvel Cinematic Universe films have received divisive responses from fans. As such, it looks like Disney reportedly canceled as many as three different MCU movies previously set to be made by Marvel Studios.

The MCU movies were allegedly canceled by CEO Bob Iger, which does line up with previous statements made by Iger that Disney has canceled some projects from being made. This report comes via insider Daniel Richtman.

According to Daniel Richtman, while Feige wanted some of these films to be made, Iger decided to put a stop to them in fear of producing a guaranteed box office bomb. Again, this lines up with previous statements made by Iger himself that Disney would produce films that were less “risky” for the company.

Interestingly, the MCU movies rumored to have been canceled are all sequels. The films include Ant-Man 4, Captain Marvel 3, and Eternals 2. It’s Eternals 2 in particular that Kevin Feige wanted to move forward with, though Iger didn’t allow him given the outcome of its predecessor.

It’s worth pointing out that another rumor says Eternals 2 hasn’t been cancelled:

Of course, this all has yet to be confirmed. Nevertheless, it does make sense, and it doesn’t exactly mean the end for each franchise’s respective heroes. In fact, with upcoming crossover event films like Avengers: Secret Wars, it’ll be quite easy to catch up with these characters and keep them interacting in the same shared world.

Unfortunately, for those who wanted direct follow-ups to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The Marvels, or Eternals, you might be out of luck. In any case, we’ll have to see what happens in the near future.

As for now, however, it looks like Disney could very well be sticking to their word with producing films that are more likely to be successes at the box office than critical or controversial failures. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Marvel news as we have it.
