Now, the spotlight falls on the casting of Silver Surfer, a pivotal character in Marvel lore.
In a surprising move, Emmy-winning actress Julia Garner has been chosen to portray the iconic Silver Surfer. Most known for her performance in Ozark, Garner will play Shalla-Bal, a version of Silver Surfer from the comics. The character first made its appearance in 1968 and was created by Stan Lee and John Buscema.

There was a rumor back in November that suggested the version of Silver Surfer that we would be getting in The Fantastic Four would be a female version – so it appears that was correct. Marvel Studios’ has said they will remain committed to innovation and inclusivity, offering a fresh interpretation of a beloved character while challenging conventional expectations.
Director Matt Shakman, known for his work on WandaVision, will be at the helm of The Fantastic Four. The screenplay, crafted by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer, sets the stage for an exciting adventure. Production is slated to kick off this summer, with the film scheduled for release on July 25, 2025.
