The Lord of the Rings literary franchise was most popularly adapted with Peter Jackson’s live-action trilogy. In more recent years, Amazon Prime took on the ambitious task of creating an all-new series set in the world – The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power – which did not receive a similar response from fans. Now the trailer for The Rings of Power Season 2 has received more than 500,000 dislikes at the time of this writing.
When you see the dislikes on the YouTube video, it currently has over 527,000 dislikes to 96,000 likes at the time of this writing. In addition to the dislikes that users have given the video, they were also not afraid to share their thoughts in the comments section for the trailer.
As you can see below, there are plenty of hateful reactions to the footage, with fans disappointed by the overall direction of the series. This might not be surprising given the reviews received by the show’s first season, though it’s clear that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 isn’t going to fare much better.
Here are some of the comments:
“In the land of Mordor, on the slopes of Mount Doom, Sauron, forged in secret, a master wig.”
“Should’ve just gotten Steve Buscemi to play Sauron with a backwards hat and skateboard. ‘How do you do, fellow elves?'”
“Spend 30min on my life to read comments and 0 seconds watch trailer. Priceless”
“The Age of Men is over. The Age of the Wig has begun.”
