The new Disney Plus series Agatha All Along is set to arrive this month. The highly-anticipated MCU project is set to follow the events of WandaVision and even help set the stage for Marvel’s Vision series. Ahead of the show’s premiere, Agatha All Along star Joe Locke has now opened up about the world of Marvel and says that it isn’t “just for, like, straight white men.”
Joe Locke made this statement while speaking with Paul McGuire Grimes alongside other cast members of the series. The question that prompted Locke’s response was about misconceptions that have surfaced regarding Marvel.
Grimes asked the following question, as shared via That Park Place:
“There’s a line about Patti [LuPone] that Patti says about misconceptions and rumor mongering with witches. So what do you think are some misconceptions about Marvel?”
Locke’s response was received as follows:
“That it’s just for, like, straight white men. It’s not.”
Grimes responded with the following:
“Correct. It is not.”
Locke’s character in the series, named “Teen,” is gay much like the actor that portrays him in real-life. Details regarding his role have been kept closely under wraps, but he’s believed to be a very important character for the overall story. We’ll have to see how his role turns out once the project is released.
In the meantime, whether people feel like Marvel is or isn’t for “straight white men,” the studio and those involved with the projects are eager to create a diverse and inclusive franchise. So no matter what, it’s going to continue being a franchise with a little something for everyone that anyone can enjoy or relate to.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we have them. For now, it’ll be interesting to see how the Disney Plus series Agatha All Along does once it hits the platform on September 18, 2024.
