Five Nights at Freddy’s has been one of the biggest video game franchises since the original game was released in 2014. In 2023, the property reached a new level, when Blumhouse produced a live-action adaptation. Now Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is set to continue the story of the live-action movie as depicted in the newly-released trailer.
It’s worth noting that fans will have to wait until December until the film is released. Fortunately, at Universal’s CinemaCon presentation, they were able to unveil a quick teaser trailer. Additionally, fans were treated with the teaser trailer as well, as Universal released it online for viewers to enjoy.

As mentioned, the teaser is quite short, lasting only 48 seconds. In that time, however, they were able to reveal quite a few brief surprises that not only confirm the film will maintain the same style and tone as its predecessor, but also the hit video games that inspired this new cinematic endeavor. The Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise has only grown in popularity over the years, with the 2023 film grossing $297.1 million at the box office with a mere $20 million budget.
Emma Tammi returned to direct the new sequel which is once again written by a team that includes Scott Cawthon, Seth Cuddeback, and Emma Tammi. The cast of the new sequel includes the return of Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt, Elizabeth Lail as Vanessa Shelly, Piper Rubio as Abby Schmidt, and Matthew Lillard as William Afton.
The long-awaited sequel, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, is currently scheduled to hit theaters later this year on December 5, 2025. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
