The Fear Street books from beloved author R.L. Stine were some of the most popular titles available in the 1990’s. The franchise was beautifully represented with Netflix’s live-action trilogy of Fear Street films decades later, and now the series is being revived with a fourth installment – Fear Street: Prom Queen.

As with the other installments from the films based on the book series, the newest effort is a slasher film, one that pays tribute to the horror films of the 1980’s and 1990’s. This is fitting because the film is also based on the 1992 novel by R.L. Stine titled The Prom Queen which was one of the earlier Fear Street books.

Here’s the new official trailer for the Netflix exclusive Fear Street: Prom Queen:

Excitingly, in addition to being based on one of the books from Stine’s original series, the film seems to retain continuity with the previous trilogy of Fear Street films from Netflix. There are a few subtle references to these entries in the new trailer, so fans of the other films will seemingly have plenty of surprises to look forward to.

Matt Palmer directed the fourth entry in the Fear Street film franchise from a screenplay that he co-wrote with Donald McLeary.

The cast of the film includes India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, Chris Klein, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Ariana Greenblatt, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston. Other cast members include Darrin Baker, Rebecca Ablack, Ilan O’Driscoll, Damian Romeo, Dakota Taylor, Eden Summer Gilmore, Brennan Clost, Cecilia Lee, and Ryan Rosery.

Fear Street: Prom Queen is scheduled to be released via Netflix sooner than you think on May 23, 2025. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the highly-anticipated follow-up to the Fear Street trilogy and whether or not more plans to expand the franchise will come into play.
