The Marvel Cinematic Universe has received one of its most interesting movies released to date. The new film, titled Thunderbolts, is the first MCU project to follow a group of villains now operating as a team of antiheroes. As such, there are plenty of aspects that fans have been discussing, and this includes the two new post-credits scenes featured in Thunderbolts.
The new MCU movie includes Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell’s John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ava Starr, David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov, Olga Kurylenko’s Taskmaster, and Lewis Pullman’s Bob. With so many interesting characters and cast members involved, Thunderbolts covers a lot of territory and sets up plenty of new storylines for the MCU.
Some of these setups are featured during the film’s two post-credits scenes. The first post-credits scene features the realization that the team has a new name. This brings meaning to the asterisk that has been advertised as part of the film’s “Thunderbolts” title, something which prompted plenty of speculation and discussions from fans.
Specifically, it reveals that the superhero team has now become known as the “New Avengers.” Of course, it remains to be seen if the rest of the world sees them this way. As for the second post-credits scene, however, it goes far beyond our titular superhero team and explores a very different group of individuals. Some that fans will be getting to see sooner on the big screen rather than later.
This Thunderbolts post-credits scene reveals a spaceship with a very familiar “4” on its hull. Fans don’t need to know much more to realize this is the arrival of the Fantastic Four superhero team to the MCU. Of course, we still don’t know much else about the team or why they’re part of the MCU now, but that should all be answered with the upcoming film The Fantastic Four: First Steps. While Thunderbolts closes the franchise’s fifth phase, Fantastic Four: The First Steps is set to launch the sixth phase.
Fans can now see Thunderbolts in theaters. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we have them – including whatever possibilities for the franchise that Thunderbolts has now put into the world.
