It looks like quite a few fan-favorite characters will be making their respective returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One such return, however, will occur in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 with a character that fans have been desperate to see make a comeback.
The new Disney Plus series Daredevil: Born Again is all about comebacks, after all, with the titular character getting his own series for the first time since Netflix’s Daredevil was canceled.
The original Netflix series was part of several shows ambiguously set in the MCU, including The Punisher and Jessica Jones, with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher having also already made a return in the first season of Born Again.
Now, as shared via Variety, it looks like another major MCU character – and their original actor – will be returning for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Here’s what the outlet was able to share on that front:
“Krysten Ritter is officially back as hard-fighting, hard-drinking Marvel hero Jessica Jones.”
As mentioned prior, Jessica Jones was one of Netflix’s MCU shows that was unfortunately axed. On the bright side, Disney Plus has since taken over distribution of these shows, and now they’re making things right by gradually reintroducing them to the greater MCU. Now Jessica Jones will once again have her opportunity to join the spotlight.
As further revealed:
“The announcement was made during Disney’s upfront presentation to advertisers in New York on Tuesday. Ritter took the stage with Charlie Cox, star of ‘Daredevil Born Again,’ to reveal that she would be joining that show for its second season.”
Ritter shared the following statement about her return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2:
“It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and ‘The Defenders’ and now joining the MCU,” Ritter began. “I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!”
It’s been about a decade since Ritter made her first appearance as the character. With that in mind, fans are certainly ready by now to have her back in the MCU. Fortunately, fans won’t have long to wait, as the show’s second season is currently in production. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
