The success of 2017’s IT and 2019’s IT: Chapter Two were felt worldwide as they kicked off a new wave of Stephen King adaptations. Now Warner Bros. Discovery is circling back to IT with the all-new prequel series IT: Welcome to Derry which will dive into the rich history of Derry and the sinister events that happened prior to the films released in 2017 and 2019. Of course, with Welcome to Derry being a prequel series, it moves away from the time periods depicted in the previous films. Instead, it will revolve around a new cast of characters played by Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar, and Stephen Rider. Although actor Bill Skarsgård will reprise his role as Pennywise for the series as well.

Fans have been hearing about this series for several years now, so it’s exciting to finally have a full trailer for the show. Especially as we approach nearly a decade since IT was released in theaters in 2017, there has been plenty of time for this new take on Pennywise to become an iconic part of the modern horror genre, and now we’ll finally be able to see more of his origins.
IT and IT: Chapter Two director Andy Muschietti developed the new series alongside Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. The first season will take place in 1962, with each additional season moving backward in time, as the plan is to have the second season take place in 1935 with the third in 1908.
