A large majority of the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s iconic characters are set to return for Avengers: Doomsday. In fact, characters outside of the MCU continuity are also returning, including several fan-favorites from the X-Men film franchise. Sadly, it’s been revealed that one particular and beloved MCU character won’t be making the same return for Avengers: Doomsday.

This actor was able to confirm as much while speaking at 2025’s Disney Upfront. The show had plenty of Marvel news, including details regarding the second season of the MCU series starring this Marvel icon. And while they’ll be busy on the Disney Plus front, it looks like the Avengers will be saving the day without his participation.

Here’s what the MCU actor shared during the event about whether or not he’d return for Avengers: Doomsday:

“Not me,” Daredevil actor Charlie Cox answered when asked about potentially appearing in Avengers: Doomsday. “I’m excited to see it, but I’m not involved in that.”

With his answer in mind, however, fans also have to consider that not all of the actors involved with Avengers: Doomsday have been announced. It’s possible that Charlie Cox could find himself in a small role as Daredevil or Matt Murdock in the film and he simply can’t reveal as much yet. Though with Daredevil: Born Again addressing issues separate from Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, it’s just as likely that Cox really is telling the truth.

As always, we’ll have to see what happens when the new film finally hits theaters. And who knows? We could see Charlie Cox show up for the even bigger battle in Avengers: Secret Wars. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Marvel Cinematic Universe news as we have it. In the meantime, fans can also still enjoy the return of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil in Daredevil: Born Again now streaming on Disney Plus.
